Venacava – Death Of The Party – Acoustic.

Just a quick one.

A few weeks back I wrote a review on Grimsby Band Venacava after their live gig in Manchester’s Night and Day Cafe. See here.

Below is a recent recording of Death Of The Party. Stripped down to a minimum.

Enjoy and play as you wish.

All The Young/Venacava. Night And Day Cafe. Manchester. 7/5/11.

All The Young.

‘Thank you for listening to me’. The words of All The Young’s front man Ryan Dooley.

A guy who seems to be comfortable in his surroundings, welcomed onto the stage by a  Manchester crowd in his black and white attire. Ready to show fans why they were able to catch the attention of  record label Warner.

But from time to time, this front man doesn’t seem to be as sharp as his shades.

Apparently, All The Young will be the next band on our radar. One of the hottest bands of the year. But there seems to be more concentration on the clothes they wear rather than some of the music they play.

Various parts of the four pieces set was very mediocre and failed to get the Manchester fans involved with their recently hyped music style. The truth is, hundreds of bands up and down the country are just as good as these Staffordshire folk.

I can, however, give them credit for single The First Time which stands out as their best song and set closer.

Sorry Morrissey. I may have missed this ship.

The Night and Day Cafe hoset a variety of bands tonight. The headliners, who I have spoken about. Second on the bill were, ermmmm. And before them some guys from Stoke called ermmmm…..

Anyway, Venacava were tonight’s attraction. Sharp, whity and not begrudged by being first on the bill.

Manchester’s Northern Quarter had a treat. A rare, but very tender slice of a Grimsby four peace ready for the acclaim they deserve.

Venacava

It isn’t often a band will cast in its audience and make them feel apart of something special. But this foursome pricked the ears of everybody in sight. The set was full of foot tapping, get out of your seat rock. Even the glorious Manchester rain felt their presence.

Catchy hooks and growling vocals is a combination that will be a focus point for these guys.

The set was full of no nonsense originality. The bands togetherness shone through and they delivered what is surely to be a signal of intent for the future.

I know what your thinking. Grimsby doesn’t quite have a musical heritage. But this band could be the start of a whole new pedigree from the East Coast.

Key songs such as Death of the Party, Witchy Talk and Electronic Love highlight the bands potential and make them a hot topic. Who said Grimsby was ‘Grim’.

Venacava are:

Leon Blanchard  – Vocals/Guitar/Keys.

Nick Millward – Guitar/Synth.

Jared Webb – Bass.

James Buxton – Drums.
